How to Properly Mow the Lawn
from: Mowing the lawn is often times seen as simple as cutting the lawn evenly. While there are some who found an artful way to do so. Nonetheless, properly mowing the lawn is important to make the grass and the ground healthy. But how should you mow the lawn?If you have not yet purchase your mower, you can take unto consideration purchasing a reef mower than a gasoline-powered mower. Reef mower is more cost effective and energy efficient and you may also consider exercising a bit, right?
However, if you have already purchase a gasoline-powered one, make sure that everything, the gas and the oil are in their appropriate receptacles. Check the air filter.
Before doing the mowing, make the area free of rocks and sticks that may get in the way. This will avoid the materials from getting stuck and hurled by the mower. It is something that could be fatal and therefore should be avoided.
Mow in rows or columns. Try not to miss an area since doing so may not be that pleasing to your eyes. Check for missed spots and go back over them. Repeat if necessary so as to make the grass uniform and have the same grass height. However, do not cut the grass too short. This is to maintain your lawn healthy. Try to leave half an inch height. Cutting the grass too short can kill or destroy your grass.
After the use of the mower, turn it off and store it in the garage after rinsing it off.
Mowing is not needed every week. You can start mowing your lawn again if it looks unsightly and unkempt. Give time for your grass to grow and you can find it healthy after.
Don’t throw your clippings. While it may seem that it helps in keeping your lawn looking neat and tidy, you should keep it on top of the grass. Allow it to fall back as this will provide nutrient to your lawn when it decompose. Moreover, this will help in moisture retention.
Make your mowing patterns alternate every time you mow. This means that if you mow in columns this time, the next time you mow your lawn again, you have to do it in rows. This will keep your grass grow uniformly.
Safety should always be practiced whatever we do and this includes mowing. Mowing can be dangerous and so keep children and pets away from the mowing area. Also, you should watch out for the blade since it may hurt you. If debris gets into the blade, do not use your bare hands, use water hose to remove the debris.
Store the lawn mower in a safe place, out of the reach of children. Make sure it has been turned off properly and been rinsed well. This will keep your lawnmower’s life longer.
